How it works
Regular medical checks and ultrasound scans monitor the growth of ovarian follicles, which contain the developing eggs. Once these follicles are mature, a brief and painless surgical procedure retrieves the eggs under sedation or anesthesia.
In the lab, the collected eggs are fertilized with sperm, either from the recipient’s partner or a donor. This in vitro fertilization (IVF) process results in the formation of embryos. The healthiest embryos are then selected for transfer into the recipient’s uterus. This step involves a simple procedure, where a thin catheter delivers the embryos to their new home.
How Does IVF Origen Agency Screen Egg Donors?
We have an intensive screening process to ensure that only qualified candidates are allowed into our program. Potential donors will first meet with one of our coordinators where they’ll complete a detailed health and personal questionnaire. The information is then reviewed by Origen team members who decide if they’re fit for becoming a donor!
Drug Screening
The egg donor is screened for drug use including opioids (heroin and morphine), cocaine, amphetamines and marijuana.
Psychological Assessment
The woman who is going to be an egg donor will have a psychological assessment so that she can be emotionally prepared for what the process involves.
Legal Consultation
The egg donor will be able to meet with a lawyer to review her contract and ensure that she is aware of her rights and obligations before, during and after her cycle. The donor is able to have this legal consultation with a lawyer from a designated reproductive law firm.
Timeline
Depending on the donor’s menstrual cycle, it may take up to 2 months to complete the pre-screening examinations. Birth control tablets may or may not be given to the donor.
Only fresh egg donor cycles are covered by this time span. The contributing donor has already undergone screening if you want to use frozen donor eggs.
Standards
In order to maintain the highest possible standards, our recruitment team strictly adheres unconditionally to all guidelines set out by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine as well as US Food & Drug Administration. Furthermore, we also follow an Institutional Ethics Board that ensures that each candidate meets rigorous medical criteria before they can become a donor.
