What to Expect During the IVF Process
Our caring team understands starting your IVF journey can feel equally exciting and overwhelming, so we guide you through each stage of the process and answer your questions to help you make the best decision for your future family. While every intended parent is different, you can generally expect the following steps:
Preparation
If you are using your own eggs and sperm for your IVF journey, we will medically and psychologically prepare you for the process with laboratory testing, sperm analysis, infectious disease screenings, medical examination, and genetic testing. If you use an egg or sperm donor, we can help you choose your perfect match from our premier donor database. After a rigorous screening process, we work with donors in Mexico who have met our various age, health, education, and lifestyle requirements.
Egg Maturation
If you use your own eggs for IVF, the start of a cycle begins with medication you take to help your ovaries make multiple eggs instead of the usual single egg that develops each month. The medication can stimulate your ovaries, help your eggs mature, delay ovulation, and prepare your uterine lining. During this time, we monitor your progress until the eggs are mature enough for retrieval.
If you use an egg donor, you can choose between fresh and frozen eggs. With fresh eggs, your donor gets medically prepared with medication and must synchronize their cycle with the carrier of the child. In contrast, frozen eggs have already been retrieved, so we carefully thaw them to prepare for fertilization.
Egg Retrieval
When the eggs have reached maturity, we schedule the retrieval. During this simple procedure, you or your egg donor receive medicine to help you relax and feel no pain. Then, an ultrasound-guided needle is inserted to collect the eggs. The eggs are removed with a needle and a suction device. The mature eggs are incubated to prepare them for fertilization.
Sperm Retrieval
You can use sperm from an intended parent or from a donor on your IVF journey. If using your own sperm, we collect the sample the morning of the egg retrieval. Sperm may also be collected ahead of time and frozen for future use.
Fertilization
Once we have retrieved the eggs and sperm, we combine them in a controlled environment to fertilize the eggs and create embryos. The fertilized eggs continue to grow before being transferred. After this waiting period, the most viable embryos get transferred into the recipient’s uterus.
Transfer
Two to six days after the eggs are retrieved and fertilized, the embryos are transferred into the intended mother or the surrogate’s uterus using a catheter and a syringe. If the procedure works, an embryo will attach to the uterine lining.
Results
A few days after the transfer, the intended mother or surrogate takes a blood test to find out if they’re pregnant. At IVF Origen Agency, we take every action to increase your chance of a successful IVF cycle, including using the healthiest and most qualified donors and surrogates, creating personalized solutions, and making your journey as stress-free as possible.
