The surrogacy with an egg donor process involves collaboration between intended parents, the egg donor, the surrogate, and lawyers to help you achieve your dream of building a family. This can be a complex process, but with unwavering support and guidance from our experienced team, you can make confident, informed decisions for your future.
While every intended parent is different, you expect the following general steps during your surrogacy with an egg donor journey:
Talk With Our Team
Before we start your journey to parenthood with surrogacy and egg donation, we discuss your needs, medical history, and personal preferences to determine if this option is right for you. We also take this time to answer your questions and review the entire process with you, so you know what to expect.
Choose an Egg Donor
If you choose to move forward with surrogacy using an egg donor, you can choose your donor through our premier database. All our donors have met stringent age, health, and lifestyle requirements through a thorough screening process. Once you select a donor, you can choose if you would like to use fresh or frozen eggs. Frozen eggs are readily available after thawing, while the selected donor will need to coordinate her cycle and use injectable medication to produce an optimal number of eggs.
Egg Retrieval and Fertilization
If using fresh eggs, they will be retrieved from the donor when they have matured. With frozen eggs, they will need to be thawed before fertilization. Once the eggs are ready, we fertilize them using sperm from the intended parent to create embryos. The embryos are then incubated for a few days to ensure they are viable candidates to build your family. These embryos can be frozen for future use, so you can build your family on your own timeline.
Choose a Surrogate
Next, you can choose your surrogate who will carry your baby to full term. Like our egg donors, all surrogates have met a wide range of requirements, including the following:
- Between 21 and 40 years old
- No history of health or pregnancy complications
- Willing to undergo a physical and psychological evaluation
- Have previously carried a baby to term and given birth
- Healthy body mass index (BMI) and lifestyle
- Non-smoker
- Has a strong support system
- Clear and altruistic motivations
- Passes a criminal background check
- No legal issues that would complicate the surrogacy process
Our team wants you to find your perfect match that you can connect to and relate to, so we work with you during this process and arrange a meeting between you and your surrogate to ask questions and get to know them.
Legal Aspects
When you select your surrogate, our team connects you with legal experts to handle the contracting process and ensure your rights are protected.
Embryo Transfer
After you and your surrogate sign your legal agreements, we work with you and your surrogate to plan the surrogate’s cycle and schedule a date to transfer the embryos made with donor eggs to the surrogate. On that date, the surrogate undergoes a procedure that transfers the embryos to her uterus.
Pregnancy Monitoring and Birth
If the transfer is successful and the surrogate becomes pregnant, we will work with you and your surrogate to monitor the pregnancy. As the pregnancy enters the second trimester, we will prepare everyone for your child’s delivery and continue providing support beyond the birth.
